It was converted to and used as an Ambulance coach in February 1944 (No 3609) being converted back in 1947. It was converted again in 1960 and transferred into departmental service as a mess and tool van (no DS 70076)

Withdrawn by BR in 1981 it was purchased in May 1982 from Basingstoke and was located on the KESR (KESR 77) until transfer to the RVR in 1997
